Interesting find Don. Google Translate debauchery says:

"ie this device are / were part of the prof. Rail of Grundig AG in Electronic Business. It was a question of prof. 1 inch video tape equipment, which worked in the helical scanning system according to Schüller with 2 rotating video heads and 2 other rotary erase heads. The relative speed achieved in this case the head / tape was about 19.7 m / sec at a speed of tape advance 22cm/sec. The video bandwidth achieved on this occasion were initially (1972: BK 200) nor in 8Mhz later at> 10Mhz (1977: BK411) with an S / N> 55 dB!. It was a normal video signals to CCIR in black and white or with the LIR block in color (PAL or SECAM L / M, or AIA (USA: NTSC standard are recorded), but not just standard signals were recorded with these devices.

Including for example the image signals from radar sighting equipment (air traffic controllers, military applications), but also the diagnostic image signals in the medical field. You can find these devices are still used in many medical clinics, but they are now used mainly for archiving purposes or until all records are transferred to other media.

Also standard is the audio device is not as bad: two completely independent tracks, timecode prepare (a trail), frequency response to> 22000Hz."

David, when all is said and done, who knows what you may find on that tape. Visually looking at Don's link pictures, it's difficult to determine if this is a B wrap machine or not.

The tape has 20 feet of clear leader at the start and end, and was recorded in 1989. It is also a "B" wind. It does not produce anything on a B or C format macine other than some control signalls from the audio.
