[QuadList] Saturday Quad Matinee feature--KCOP, 13, Los Angeles--1979 Ros...

Hay Dave,
Take a closer look at the youtube video when they show the TD area.
You will see the glass on the side of the wall.
If that still would have been of 5, there would be a 2'X4' white steel panel with 2 support chains hanging down just above the forward cable rat hole. Also 5 was the only one with the roof support rings on the truck.

It was not unusual for TAV to have multiple trucks at a location for support and to extend the cables. But you were sitting in TAV5.

Ted,
They would set up the truck so the window had a clear view of the stage when the stage doors were left open. If Jerry Lewis wanted a break or make a change, he would flash a hand signal to the director and the TD would flash the light on the camera for confermation. They cut that window in the trailer for him and it was the only time it was ever used.

Lee,

Unless I am having total brain fade, the still picture (high angle) of the truck is the same as the "behind the scenes" video. It was shot the same day, video and 35mm photos. KCOP during my tenure only did the Rose Parade once (yes they did do it before my time with their GE truck and TS-40 switcher but I heard that went terribly bad). So is this TAV 3 or TAV 5? May I presume that one of the older color Conrac round tube monitors was the catalyst for the fire?

For this "behind the scenes" piece, I was hot assemble editing on the VR-2000 under Editec control where I had laid the last cue tone. I would count down the director (and everyone else on the PL) for the next edit. It was fun and it worked out just fine.
