That's it, but as Larry points out, it's more than the wiring, the connector is larger, so even if the connector is removed from the base plate, you can tell by the noticeably larger size of the connector area.  Likewise, if it's all assembled as in the next to last picture, the size difference of the cover plate is still easy to see compared to the cover on a Mk-X.

As to Larry's question about the head blower, I have wondered about that too.  There was an evolution through the years.  The "blower" on the VR-1000 and the 1100 was a monster, a real vacuum cleaner design.  I don't recall exactly what the 2000 had.  The 1200 was much less powerful than the earlier versions, and I've noticed that the Mk-X head motor doesn't seem to create much heat.  So, why was the cooling deleted?  Just not really needed, or a result of the different motor design in the Mk-XV?

  You are right.  Now it is so easy to see.  Look at the wire for the tach.  There is only one on the earlier pictures.  The 15 had two tach systems.  The original once a revolution and the later one.
