These are standard on all RCA machines

1. Tone wheel lock....Mono Lock...used to help with tape disturbances
2. Switch lock...Mono again but locked to station frame wise and is used for
editing
3. Pix lock.. Colour Lock full locked to station reference

4. Line lock Not a good idea line locked to station ref... not like Ampex
Horiz and is best avoided as it is poor at recovering from disturbances

5 600 only ...does not lock at all, very common and undesirable... Try
tweaking Mod Bias to fix

600's were a dreadful machine, deigned to work with the AE 600 editor, which
was about as friendly as a cornered rat,

Subject: [QuadList] Servo Lock Modes for RCA TR600

I learned through a discussion with Chris Hill that there are four, and
possibly five types of servo lock for this VTR:
1. Tone wheel lock
2. Switch lock
3. Pix lock
4. Line lock
And a possible #5. Whatever mode or combo of modes used in starting the tape
up.

Another theory question is the explanation of the "outer loop" and "inner
loop" circuitry used in this machine for the servos.

Thanks for any help you can give,
Fred
