[QuadList] Introduction--Welcome!

Thank you, Ted!

I am working on a Hitachi HL-210. It is having sync issues causing unstable
video. It has a "Sync Error" message. It has some weird terminology, but I
can't remember the phrasing of it. I don't have any manuals for it. I have
tried hooking up BB and Sync in various combinations, but to no avail. I
haven't dug much deeper, because I didn't have any manuals, and because I've
been working on their TR-600 2" to get it going. I hope to have their 2"
going next week, and I plan to get back to the Hitachi after that.

If anyone has any advice or manuals for the Hitachi HL-210, I would
appreciate whatever you have.

I was at PTL the same time as Del Holford, but didn't interact with him much
because I was a Video Technology intern, and he worked with Production
Interns. I think I served on some of his crews, though and we did chat
every now and then. I think he still lives in Charlotte.

I'd love to meet anyone here in Missouri on the list. I am in SW Missouri,
but travel sometimes to STL or KC.

Hi, Fred,

Welcome and hope you enjoy the interchange.

We have 153 active subscribers this morning, and 163 that have signed up
since the list began in July, 2008.

You're probably one of the youngest people on the QuadList with Quad
experience. We have members in Missouri, including Klara Foeller at the
Missouri History Center who runs a VR-1200. Anyone else in or near Fred is
welcome to pipe up.

Did you know Del Holford at PTL?

There are some folks on the QuadList with Hitachi experience. What model of
Hitachi are you working on and do you have manuals?

I have been lurking for some time, but decided to take the plunge and join

I am presently the Chief Engineer of Global Universitys TV studio in
Springfield, MO. I have been in broadcasting for 30 years; having interned
at the PTL Television Network, where I got my first taste of videotape on 2
and 1 and got hooked! After my internship, I moved back to my hometown of
Pittsburgh, PA where I worked at WRS Video Labs, starting as a dubber, but
was soon promoted to Engineer and eventually to Shop Foreman. While there,
I maintained Ampex AVR-1s and had the opportunity to restore two AVR-2s.
I mainly worked on their Ampex 1 VPR-2Bs though.

After three years there, I met my wife and moved to Florence, SC to be
closer to her. There I worked for WPDE-TV15, maintaining their Umatic and
Beta SP decks. In 1995, I transitioned into my present position at ICI
University, which became Global University in 2000.

Presently, I have been called in to maintain an RCA TR-600 at a sister
studio here in town. I am enjoying this blast from the past in my career,
and look forward to doing more work on the 2 format. While I am sure there
are younger engineers than I who work on 2, I figure that I must be one of
the youngest (at age 50) who operated 2; since I did so at the beginning of
my career.

I am also working on a Sony 1 and a Hitachi 1 VTR in the same facility.
If anyone has knowledge of Hitachi 1 VTRs, or knows of a 1 forum in
cyberspace, I would appreciate the information.

Having read the wisdom of many of the engineers on this forum, I doubt that
I will contribute much. Im not sure I have that much to contribute. But
if I can help you somehow, just ask.
