A few pics of the MBT display at NAB

Toward the end of the Quad Videotape Group's Seventh Annual Lunch at NAB on Tuesday, April 8, an unidentified visitor (Left) takes a phone pic as the Museum of Broadcast Technology's Paul Beck (Center) and Tom Sprague (Right) sit in front of the MBT display in the great hallway between Central and North Halls at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The MBT Display included a range of working tube and CCD cameras made over several decades, coupled to a 3/4" videocassette deck representing how the vast majority of these cameras were used: Electronic News Gathering (ENG) (EJ in NBC-speak) and "affordable" video production.

There were several working tape decks on display, including the Museum's two-piece RCA TPR-10 portable Quad, which has roots in a military recorder from RCA.  It was playing back a vintage Quad tape (first generation, if I recall correctly) without aid of a TBC.

Vintage Quad tape was also shown on the left hand monitor, which displayed a DVD of the documentary "JFK: One PM Central Standard Time," which recounts CBS News anchorman Walter Cronkite's coverage of John F Kennedy's assassination and aftermath.

The Museum's Smith Splicer with microscope is perched on an Anvil-style case, showing the equipment used to physically edit Quad tape before electronic editing became available and commonly used.
