The color recovery system was interesting that RCA developed.  It  worked 
and did not look that bad.
 
The Shibadin (SP) company built the AMTEC and COLORTEC under license from  
Ampex.  Merlin Engineering also imported a number of the machines and sold  
them here in the US.  They installed a duplication system in Hollywood  
using a number of the decks.  
 
John Streets led a great bunch of guys at Merlin.  The three hour  
modifications to one inch machines were great for the duplication of  movies.
