the topic veers off the original subject.

IE: I'd suggest changing "Got my VR-1200's" to "Power supplies, caps  
and variacs on power up" or something specific to your particular post.

This makes it easy for folks on the list to find "that post where so  
and so was talking about such and such."

It also makes it easier for others to search for posts of interest  
when they're looking for help.
