[QuadList] Dropouts at fixed intervals

If the dropouts look like tone wheel pulses or tach pulses in the picture,  
you have a magnetized spot in the tape path.  Get out the head  
de-magnetizer and do a through jog on all heads, rollers, arms, and any other  spot 
that touches tape.  
 
I never could figure out how these little bits of magnetic fields would get 
 on the transport.  Does anyone have the knowledge of the cause?
