[QuadList] OT--Vegas icon losing Hilton Brand on Jan. 1--

For folks who've been using it as a landmark or temporary residence at NAB since 1971 the Hilton Hotel at the north end of the Las Vegas Convention Center won't be a Hilton much longer.

A line at the bottom of an e-mail from the Consumer Electronics Show carried this message:

The Las Vegas Hilton will change its name to LVH (Las Vegas Hotel & Casino) on January 3, 2012.
For purposes of the 2012 International CES, we will continue to refer to it as the Las Vegas Hilton.

The hotel is in financial trouble, and Hilton Worldwide announced in June that it was pulling the franchise:

A Nevada Gaming Commission hearing tomorrow may determine whether the court-appointed receiver can run both the hotel and its gambling operations:

So if you booked a stay there—say during NAB—with Hilton points, or were expecting some from an upcoming stay... you might want to check on what'll happen.
