The mystery photo of the week was taken exactly 30 years ago (+/- a few
days). At NAB Vegas 1982, Ken Zin proudly displayed a rebuilt, mint condition
VR-1000 VTR at the Merlin booth. Ken had assembled this machine from
VR-1000 A, B, and C machines. It was running and fully operational on the show
room floor. It is my understanding that after NAB, this machine was loaded
onto a truck for a trip to The Smithsonian but it was subjected to severe
damage while in transit. It's whereabouts are unknown.

Hi Bill,

That's an interesting Compact Video story about that VR-3000/VR-1000

setup. Wish I could have seen it. Unfortunately that is not the machine

in the picture. The answer is coming tonight. It does remind me of a

story I was told last weekend over dinner by a friend who used to work

at WJZ channel 13 in Baltimore. He told me they had a tape delay rig

that recorded on a VR-1000 flat top feeding tape vertically to a

VR-1200. I would have loved to have seen that in operation!

Well before my time, but
